FCGH Supports "Violent Skies" Symposium - The Air War in Vietnam

The Foundation for Coast Guard History is proud to partner with our counterparts at the Air Force Historical Foundation, the Army Historical Foundation, Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, and the Naval Historical Foundation—to sponsor the “Violent Skies Symposium”, to be held October 15-16, 2015 at the National Defense University, Washington, D.C. The purpose of this conference, with speakers including scholars and veterans, is to allow for people around the world to gain a better understanding of the service and sacrifice of the Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, and Airmen who fought that war.

Specific Coast Guard topics will include the Coast Guard’s exchange program with the U.S. Air Force’s combat aerial rescue squadrons serving in South Vietnam and the deployment and use of the Loran navigation system.

If you’re a FCGH member, you can sign up at a discount. And we will be looking for two volunteers to help with setup – if you’re in the DC area, think about volunteering as you will get admission to the symposium paid for.
